What deodorant/anti-perspirant do you recommend?

I%26#039;m 14 and I%26#039;ve been using deodorant since I was about 11. Lately, I%26#039;ve noticed that my deodorant (Toms) is not working as well. I was just wondering what your recommendations regarding deodorant were because I am not against it, but I would rather not use deodorant that contains any alluminum in it. One of my friends actually uses mens deodorant because it doesn%26#039;t have any alluminum. Is this a good or bad idea? And what are your reccomendations? Dove? Secret? Degree? Certain Dri?

Also, what is the difference between deodorant and anti-perspirant?

Thanks!

What deodorant/anti-perspirant do you recommend?
Smart girl! Your right, although some people don%26#039;t know, aluminum has been linked to Alzeimers disease and other problems of the aluminum building up in you body. I use an aluminum anti-persperant, but i really should switch!

Anyways:

Deoderant just covers the smell your body produces, while anti-persperant helps your body to not smell in the first place.

I would go with a antipersperant deoderant combonation.

The crystal block someone mentioned ive heard does really work well, but ive never tried it. Ive seen them at like whole foods and sprouts markets and trader joes.

I personally use Doves antipersperant/deoderant combo, which keeps you dry and you dont smell, but it has aluminum i think
Reply:There is one that is the crystal rock. Try it. I hear it works well. I say find something at the health food store. They usually carry stuff like that that is all natural. You need to change your deodorant after awhile. Your body gets immune to it.
Reply:Deoderant just adds fragrance to cover your natural scent. Anti-perspirants stop you from sweating, helping to eliminate the source of the odor. Anti-perspirants are your best bet. I found Arrid XXDry to work best for me. It smells good, and works really well to stop sweating. Arrid does contain aluminunm. Why do you want to stay away from aluminum? It%26#039;s very effective, and is totally safe.
Reply:umm i use dove. its really good and has barely any of that bad stuff, the foil or w/e. lol.

Deodorant can cause breast cancer!?

is it true that deodorant can cause breast cancer? than why there some people who are still using deodorant and why the companies still making or inventing different kinds of deodorant if they know that this is bad to our health? yes i can say that i use deodorant sometimes thats why im asking if its true that it can cause cancer? and what is the active main ingredient of deodorant that can cause cancer?

Deodorant can cause breast cancer!?
No link between cancer and deodorants/anti-perspirants has been proven, and evidence strongly suggests there isn%26#039;t one.

The currently widely-held belief that they are linked to breast cancer is mainly down to a hoax email that has been widely circulated.

A large study in 2002 looked for links between antiperspirant use and breast cancer in 1,500 women. The researchers found that neither antiperspirants nor deodorants increased breast cancer risk.

Those who claim that deodorants/antiperspirants cause breast cancer state one of these three thigs as the reason

1) anti-perspirants prevent the release of toxins, which cause cancer; this is nonsense - the purpose of sweat is to cool you down, not release %26#039;toxins%26#039;, and even if sweat did release toxins, there are plenty of other areas you sweat profusely from.

2) they contain aluminium; many do but there is no strong evidence that aluminium could increase the risk of cancer

3) they contain parabens, a preservative many believe is linked to breast cancer. - There is in fact no evidence that parabens cause cancer; the concern arises from a small study in 2004 by British researchers which found traces of parabens in tissue taken from women with breast cancer. The tumours of 20 women were tested, and for obvious reasons there was no control group.

The researchers claimed the study demonstrated that if people are exposed to parabens , the chemicals will accumulate in their bodies

However, this extremely small study doesn%26#039;t demonstrate a direct causal link between deodorant or antiperspirant use and developing breast cancer. A study that small cannot be regarded as proof.

There are many deodorants available without parabens and aluminium, and many people choose to use them to be on the safe side - I do myself, and did long before my breast cancer diagnosis - but there is no proof of a link with breast cancer.
Reply:I use deodorant every day. If you don%26#039;t...it%26#039;s gross. It%26#039;s a conspiracy theory. I%26#039;ve never seen anyone diagnosed with breast cancer based off the formation of deodorant use. Trust me, it%26#039;s fine. Have you ever seen a doctors warning that says: may cause breast cancer? Exactly. If there were a risk, it would be required to be printed on the bottle. Kind of like how people says cell pones give you brain cancer. They%26#039;ve been around for a good amount of time now, haven%26#039;t seen anyone die from cell phone use. If you notice, on the back of the deodorant, it will say to watch out if you have kidney problems. Their is a chemical in deodorant that is hard for your kidney%26#039;s to process. You can talk to your doctor about all this if you want.

Best Deodorant (not anti perspirant) to be found in India?

Hey there, I%26#039;ve been living in the middle east and just shifted to India. I%26#039;ve been using deodorants for about 10 years and have found the ones without anti perspirant technology to be moist comfortable.

My first fave deodorant was Gillette Gel Deodorant of the Pacific Blue scent. That left the middle east market about 5 years back.

Then moved onto Speedstick Alpine Fresh Stick, Deodorant (left the middle east market 3 years back) and then Tabac Light Blue, stick Deodorant.

Unfortunately none of these seem to be available in Cochin, Kerala, India (import shops have them but I%26#039;m looking for wider availability such as supermarket or department stores) so am looking for other alternatives of the pure deodorant kind without anti perspirant technology.

Apparently stick deodorants for men are just not available, so what gel or liquid/roll on deodorants available in India would be highly recommended for men?

Best Deodorant (not anti perspirant) to be found in India?
why not try going for The body shop products?

Deodorant??
Try the Secret Clinical Strenghth. I really like it. Degree isn%26#039;t worth a Sh##

EDIT-

Did you know that botox is a very effective way to control underarm wetness and odor. You don%26#039;t even need pit stick if you get injections. Downfall is you have to get shots, and it can be spendy. They find your sweat glands by using idoine and cornstarch. The two things have a chemical reaction, and turn black at the gland sites, showing the doctor where to put the injection. Honest to God Truth. I saw it on Dr. 90210.
Reply:I use Arrid X-tra Dry..........seems to be the only one that works more than 2 months for me.

Get it in the clear gel...powder fresh maybe..don%26#039;t get the solid stick.

Deodorant????

Does any one know how i can stay dry..ive used Dove,Suave,Degree and Ban Roll-On..and none work any other recommendations???

Deodorant????
Look at the active ingredients. The clinical strength over the counter is less than some of the regular ones.

I%26#039;ve been there so many times, there were times when I wouldn%26#039;t even wear a white shirt because of the sweat. I could sweat in front of an air conditioner, the only two that has EVVVEEERR worked has been Arrid (but my body got so used to it, it quit working.), and the other one- the one I use now that I could NOT live without is Almay Hypoallergenic Clear Gel Fragrance Free. It has 20% of the active ingredient, which most of the ones out right now only have 17 or 18%. Hope I could help.

PS: Don%26#039;t wear guys stuff, all you need is one with a higher percentage of Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex. :-)
Reply:I%26quot;ve tried every brand ever made...the one that works best for me is Dove, regular scent.

You may have to do what I did and keep trying until you find the one that works the best with your own body chemistry.
Reply:1. You can get a prescription from your doctor.

2. You can try secret clinical strength.

3. You could try men%26#039;s deodorant.

4. Be sure you%26#039;re using an antibacterial soap.
Reply:there%26#039;s a prescription strenght one at wal mart. cna%26#039;t remember the name now, think it starts with a c

thats what it is certain dri
Reply:First, there is a difference between deodorant and antiperspirant. Deodorant is for odor, antiperspirant is for sweating.

Assuming %26quot;staying dry%26quot; is your only problem:

Sometimes your body will go through a phase where it sweats no matter what. I went through one when I was a Junior(?) in high school. Nothing I did helped, I sweat when I wasn%26#039;t even hot. It was annoying but I grew out of it. It has to do with hormonal changes in your body.

Antiperspirants you can try: Tom%26#039;s of Maine or Arm %26#039;n%26#039; Hammer, both of these are also good for sensitive skin.

Deodorant?

which one is the best so you dont smell?

Deodorant?
I like secret. =D
Reply:Ban anti-perspirant and deoderent works great for me and I run alot.
Reply:I prefer antiperspirant to deodorant. With antiperspirnt you don%26#039;t smell or sweat. I find most are good - I select them according to which one smells best. Some smell funny when you sweat
Reply:for strength, i would go with mitchum. but if you don%26#039;t have a huge sweating problem, i would go with Adidas.
Reply:Secret sucks big time try speed stick
